This Is My School

Hi, I'm Khushi, and this is my school! There are so many things to see, hear and smell inside. Come on! Let's go exploring! This book shows children what to expect when they start school, from how to get to school to what they'll eat for lunch. There are so many new rules to learn, and new friends to make along the way.

Mark Weakland wears many hats. As an author, he's written books for teachers, including Super Core!: Turbocharging Your Basal Reading Program with More Reading, Writing, and Word Work, published by the International Reading Association. His book topics for children include sports, bacteria, comets, and poetry. Mark's also a reading specialist. He teaches kindergarten children, third graders, parents, and teachers. As a musician and songwriter, Mark sings, plays percussion, and strums the guitar. Many of his songs, including "I Sure Love Pancakes" and "The Dooflicky Machine," have won national awards and contests. Mark lives in Western Pennsylvania. Nina de Polonia-Nill has loved drawing ever since she could first hold a pencil. Although she works digitally, the magic of her art starts with paper-and-pencil sketches. Nina enjoys illustrating playful, quirky stories and characters, infusing her digital work with textures done in traditional media. Born in the Philippines, she currently lives in Brisbane, Australia, where she illustrates, paints with her kids, travels, and gardens.
