About The Author

Mark Freeman

Mark Freeman is a Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Education, University College London. He has published widely on modern British social, educational and business history, and has also worked at the Universities of Glasgow, York and Hull. He is co-editor of the journal History of Education. Eleanor Gordon is Professor of Architecture at the Edinburgh College of Art. She is author of numerous books, the most recent of which are Courtyard Housing (2004), Green Architecture (2001), Sustainable Housing (2000) and Green Buildings Pay (1988). Krista Maglen is an Assistant Professor in the history department at Indiana University, Bloomington. She has published widely and researches in the history of medicine, and animal studies and is the author of the recently published book The English System:Quarantine, Immigration and the Making of a Port Sanitary Zone. (2014).
