About The Author

Marie Tang

Marie Tang was born in Hong Kong, raised in New York City, and was a resident of Shanghai for over a decade. The unique characters and neon lights of the “Big City” have been an ever-present source of inspiration for her. As a child, she was neither encouraged nor discouraged to read so when she discovered the world of books as a young adult, Marie couldn’t help but read, study, write, and read some more. She was fortunate enough to spend several years as a literacy teacher. This has given her some of her most prized possessions, memories of reading aloud to kids. Marie sees herself as hardworking, mindful, and blessed for all the amazing experiences she’s been allotted. Marie’s debut book Yuna’s Cardboard Castles will be released Fall of 2022. A second book, Baba’s Peach Tree, is set to release shortly after. Her picture book manuscript, Tai Gong’s Celebration, won 2nd place in the 85th Annual Writers Digest Competition. Marie is a member of the SCBWI and an active participant in Julie Hedlund’s 12x12 Challenge.

Like Sophia, Lenny Wen was a rambunctious kid. Climbing trees, riding bicycles bigger than herself, and bouncing around heavy machinery often got her scolded by grown-ups. These days, when she’s not working, she mostly spends her time reading books, snuggling her dog, or watching the trees from her home in the Austrian countryside. Lenny is the author and illustrator of picture books such as Spicy Spicy Hot!, Wolfgang in the Meadow, and Pippo’s Perfectly Peculiar Days.
