About The Author
Mariah Laine Moyle
In 2009, while navigating her 32’ sailboat through the 700 islands of the Bahamas, Mariah Moyle washed up on the beach of a remote island in the Exuma island chain. That island, as per the most recent census, had a population of 7. And it was at the island’s only beach bar that she met her Bahamas-born future husband Mark. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Mariah immediately found that palm trees and sunshine suited her, so she decided to stick around.
Mariah and Mark lived on numerous islands throughout the Bahamas, including several years in the beautiful and remote Exumas, and chic and colorful Harbour Island, before landing in the “big city” of Nassau in 2016.While living in Harbour Island, Mariah established Out Island Life, an informative website for those looking to travel, relocate, buy, or build in the Bahamas. Between her and Mark they have been to nearly every island region in the Bahamas and consider themselves go-to resources for all aspects of Bahamas life. Mariah regularly writes travel articles for her website, and enjoys contributing to a fellow writer’s website, Women Who Live on Rocks, where she comically describes the quirks of island living. When she isn’t writing, Mariah teaches yoga, and enjoys kiteboarding, paddlesurfing, and taking her three rescue potcakes (island dogs) for long walks on empty beaches. You can learn more about the Bahamas at or follow her island adventures on Instagram @islandmariah.Returns
