Description

First the Blitz, then a visit by a stranger changed two young lives forever

Beth's life was just beginning when her father brought 14-year-old John, a casualty of the Blitz on East End London, into their home. Then a visit from a man claiming to be John's lost father changed their two lives forever. Tears were shed as John was taken away. Years went by and although they were long parted, Beth's thoughts often turned to John as she suffered the immeasurable sadness of an unhappy marriage and the disappearance of her daughter. Was his life happier than hers?

At sixteen John enlisted in the army and fought in the D-Day battle in Normandy, losing many of his fellow soldiers. After the war, he joined the Ford Motor assembly plant in Manchester, and was later transferred to Wellington, New Zealand. During his down times, John thought of Beth. On his wife's death she requested that her ashes be taken back to England. Was this John's chance to find Beth? Were their paths destined to cross?
