About The Author
Manon Hedenborg White
Manon Hedenborg White is Associate Professor of History of Religions at Malmö University. Her main areas of research are esotericism, New Religious Movements, gender, and authority. She is the author of The Eloquent Blood: The Goddess Babalon and the Construction of Femininities in Western Esotericism (2020), and co-editor of Esotericism and Deviance (2023). She has edited two journal special issues on Aleister Crowley and his religion Thelema: for Aries (2021) and Religion & the Arts (with Henrik Bogdan, 2024). She serves on the board of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism.
Henrik Bogdan is Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Gothenburg. His main areas of research are esotericism, New Religious Movements, and Freemasonry and other secret societies. He is the author of Western Esotericism and Rituals of Initiation (2007), and the co-editor of numerous works, including Aleister Crowley and Western Esotericism (2012), the most recent being The Study of Religion in Sweden (2024). He is the editor of two bookseries: Oxford Studies in Western Esotericism and the Palgrave Studies in New Religions and Alternative Spiritualities. Bogdan serves as the Secretary of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism.
