Born in 1905 in Chicago, Illinois, Lynd Ward authored six novels in woodcuts and three children’s picture books, in addition to illustrating approximately two hundred other books. Storyteller Without Words, an autobiographical monograph on his wood engraving work, was published in 1974. He passed away in 1985.
