Description

Q: How do you imagine the beyond?

A: A banquet! A banquet where everybody, especially the world’s poor, will have enough, not just of material food but also God’s justice. [From the book}

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the archbishop of Manila, has emerged in recent years as an important voice of the Asian Church. In this autobiographical work, Cardinal Tagle, with openness and frankness, freely shares his thoughts on religious pluralism, social justice, an ethic of ecology, and the challenges facing the church in the 21st century. His deep commitment to the poor and his ardent faith in the gospel message shine throughout these memories and reflections.

Critic Reviews

"From his origins in poverty and ministerial experience in the slums of Manila, and his spiritual formation by Jesuits and theological education in the United States, to his broad cultural sensitivity and key roles he has played on the Asian and world stage, Cardinal Tagle's story offers reassurance for the future of the Church. --Paul Crowley, SJ, author, The Unmoored God

"These autobiographical reflections of the current Cardinal of Manila reveal 'a shepherd who smells of his sheep' and show the kind of leader who will be able to carry on Pope Francis's program of church reform." --Peter Phan, author, The Joy of Religious Pluralism

"As one likely to appear on the short lists of potential popes at the next conclave, his voice is an important one in the Church today and going forward." --Our Sunday Visitor
