Summary
As understanding of neurodiversity deepens, mental health professionals are increasingly called to adapt their practice to meet the needs of neurodivergent clients. Traditional therapeutic models can unintentionally overlook or pathologise neurodivergent experiences, leaving clients feeling unseen and unsupported. Grounded in lived experience and clinical expertise, Louise Lucas offers a compassionate, CFT-informed framework that centres affirmation, inclusion and curiosity.

Critics Review
Louise Lucas has created a powerful, affirming, and deeply compassionate resource that truly honours neurodivergent lived experiences. This workbook is an invaluable guide for practitioners seeking to work more ethically, anti-oppressively, and confidently alongside neurodivergent clients. – Myira Khan * Anti-Oppressive Practitioner, Therapist, Supervisor & Author of Working Within Diversity and The Muslim Guide to Wellbeing *It’s great to understand why you’re struggling. But what then? Clients ask “Yes, but HOW?” And in this book - which is not theory but experience - Louise gives the answer. And in such a fluid, clear, detailed and empathic way that it can be adapted to pretty much anyone. It’s tailored to neurodivergent people, certainly, but the neurodiversity paradigm is inclusive, not exclusive - as is this wonderful book. – Practitioner Member PCT Scotland at Ettrick Counselling * Max Marnau MA MLitt PG Dip MNCPS (Acc) *A much needed resource for therapists working with neurodivergent clients, straightforward language and an appealing, collaborative, compassionate model which makes sense. – Carla Boulton * Counsellor, Supervisor and Coach *A sensitive and deeply practical guide to supporting neurodivergent wellbeing. Louise brings together accessible strategies that will resonate with therapists seeking to translate neurodivergent affirming principles into meaningful, compassionate practice in the therapy room. Perfect for practitioners wishing to build their affirming toolkit. – Amy Peters * Author of Neurodivergent Affirming Therapy: Rethinking Approaches for Autistic and ADHD Clients *
