About The Author

Lisa Michele Burns

Lisa Michele Burns began her career as a travel journalist for Lonely Planet before swapping her pen for a camera in Marrakesh, Morocco. Hooked on photographing patterns hidden within landscapes, extreme climates, cultures, and the underwater world, she opened a landscape gallery on Hayman Island, near the Great Barrier Reef, in 2009. This location fueled her passion for documenting the environment above and below the surface. Inspired by the details of nature—patterns carved by climates, movement in water, and colorful skies—Burns believes photography is as much about seeing as it is capturing. Her most recent project, The Photographic Forecast, focuses on regions of environmental significance and features images from Greenland to Namibia, Chile, and Australia in a print collection from which proceeds are donated to conservation initiatives.
