Summary
Finite Element Methods: A Mathematical Foundation
This book explores the mathematical theory underpinning finite element methods. Emphasizing discrete stability and exact sequence conforming elements, it addresses both coercive and non-coercive problems.
Tracing a historical progression, the author navigates from the Ritz and Galerkin methods to Mikhlin’s theory, the Lax-Milgram theorem and Cea’s lemma to the Babuska theorem and Brezzi’s theory, culminating in an introductio…
