Leslie F. Halleck

Leslie F. Halleck is a Certified Professional Horticulturist (ASHS) with 27 years of experience blending horticulture science with the needs of home gardeners. She holds a BS in Biology/Botany from The University of North Texas and an MS in Horticulture from Michigan State University.

Halleck’s diverse professional background includes botanical field research, work in public gardens, landscape design and maintenance, garden writing, garden center retail, and horticulture and green industry consulting. Since the end of 2012, she has focused full-time on her company, Halleck Horticultural, LLC, a green industry consulting and marketing agency. Her previous roles include Director of Horticulture Research at The Dallas Arboretum and General Manager for North Haven Gardens in Dallas, Texas.

A frequent speaker and contributor to industry publications, Halleck also shares practical gardening advice and hands-on learning experiences with home gardeners through her blog, public workshops, plant swaps, and consumer publications. She has authored hundreds of articles for various publications and taught numerous gardening programs for a wide range of enthusiasts.
