Critics Review
Short-listed 2025 Gourmand Cookbook Award — Street FoodFeatured in Library Journal’s 2025 Cookbook Preview**“A love letter to Japanese street food, the comprehensive and appealing English language debut from Tokyo native Kie serves triple duty as a recipe collection, travel guide, and cultural history. […] Japanophiles—especially those planning a trip—will be thrilled.” —Publishers Weekly“This cookbook is EVERYTHING. It brings me straight back to the sweltering heat of Dotonbori Street in June, hiding in a hot shop, eating takoyaki as the old woman makes more outside. I watched the bonito wave in the steam, dancing like it was alive…This book transported me back there. And I am SO appreciative. Now I can try okonomiyaki!” —Kelly Russell, Second Flight Books
