What They're Saying

Critics Review

“This nonfiction title highlights the under-told story of the Gallaudet Eleven, a group of deaf men from Gallaudet University whose work quietly shaped the space race. A note in the front matter from a member of the Gallaudet Eleven adds a personal touch to this story, as does the author’s own note in the back matter.”

School Library Journal
“Cerra’s account of the involvement of eleven deaf men in NASA research in the Space Race is captivating, surprising, and moving; Gehrmann’s digital illustrations share these traits.”–Horn Book

“The point that the participants’ disability gave them the “right stuff” to make significant contributions to the great enterprise is firmly, and justly, made.”

Booklist
“A welcome acknowledgment of unsung figures.”–Kirkus Reviews
