About The Author

Kentaro Miura

Kentaro Miura debuted his 48-page manga, Berserk Prototype, in 1988 while attending Nihon University. This work served as an introduction to the world of Berserk and earned him a prize from the Comi Manga School.

After receiving his doctorate in 1989, Miura began work on King of Wolves, a project based on a script by Buronson, the writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist of the North Star).

In 1990, the first volume of Berserk was released to modest success. Miura later collaborated with Buronson again on the manga Japan. Miura’s fame significantly increased with the beginning of Berserk’s “The Golden Age” story arc. The immense success of this masterpiece established him as one of the most prominent manga artists of his time.

In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk, which aired on NTV that same year. The series has since spawned a wide array of merchandise, including statues, action figures, key rings, video games, and a trading card game.

In 2002, Kentaro Miura received second place in the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. He resides in Tokyo, Japan.
