About the Author

Katrina Germein grew up in Adelaide, South Australia. In 1997 she began teaching at Minyerri, a remote Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory. Minyerri was the setting for her first picture book, Big Rain Coming, and the story of Leaving was also inspired by her experiences there. Katrina now lives and works in Adelaide with her husband Steve, her son Hugo and dog Sunny.
