Katherine Paterson
Katherine Paterson was born in China in 1932, the middle of five children. Her parents were missionaries, and during her childhood, the family travelled extensively. After graduating, she worked as a teacher in Virginia before travelling to Japan, where she lived for four years.
Katherine Paterson is a two-time winner of the Newbery Medal, receiving the award in 1978 for Bridge to Terabithia and again in 1981 for Jacob Have I Loved.
She currently lives in Vermont, USA, and enjoys teaching, reading, and cooking.
