About The Author

Kate Waterhouse

Kate Waterhouse (Author)

Kate is the director and founder of a fashion destination in Australia, reporting on fashion, trends, beauty, and lifestyle, as well as featuring candid celebrity interviews. She is also a journalist, media personality, television presenter, radio talent, children’s author, and dedicated mum of two girls.

Since 2018, Kate has been a fashion and colour reporter for Channel 7 Racing for both Sydney and Melbourne racing carnivals, where she reports on trackside fashion and interviews celebrities and sporting identities.

Hailing from Australian racing royalty, Kate Waterhouse has grown up in the media spotlight. She is the daughter of leading thoroughbred trainer Gai Waterhouse and leading bookmaker Rob Waterhouse, and her grandfathers are racing legends Tommy “TJ” Smith and Bill Waterhouse.

Kate is married to former professional rugby league footballer Luke Ricketson, and the couple share two daughters, Sophia and Grace. Sophia the Show Pony is Kate’s first book.

Sally Spratt (Illustrator)

For artist Sally Spratt, her passion for illustration has flourished into a career.

Sally is the creative behind The Lust List, a collection of illustrations. The Lust List began as an Instagram account that Sally created to share lifelike drawings of things she coveted but couldn’t have, from shoes and handbags to runway fashion, beauty products, and jewels. Now, Sally has become one of Australia’s most in-demand illustrators and creative influencers.

Sally’s work is rich in detail, colour, and playfulness and has adorned everything from full-scale murals to custom packaging on beauty products. She has also illustrated items including yoga mats, shower caps, tote bags, notebooks, postcards, larger-than-life cut-outs, and coffee cups, as well as creating stop-motion style animations using her drawings.

Sophia the Show Pony is Sally’s first children’s book.
