Kate has been writing children’s books since she was a child, but One Weka Went Walking is the first one to make it beyond her own bookshelf.
After studying journalism at Canterbury and Massey universities, her first career opportunity was under the mentorship of the late Kiwi legend Jon Gadsby. It was the beginning of a 14-year stint in the magazine industry that culminated in Group Editor for Allied Press Magazines.
Over the years, she has held various roles, including Editor for Kiwi Gardener, Kiwi Gardener Quarterly, Kiwi Gardener Journal and Style magazines. Today, she switches between writing children’s books, editing her first adult fiction novel and extending her children’s vocabulary.
