About The Author

Julie A. Sliva

Julie Sliva Spitzer has a extensive background in mathematics, technology, and special education. She is an associate professor of mathematics education at San Jose State University, where she instructs future educators on methods of mathematics instruction and oversees their practical experiences. Julie also actively engages in professional development for K–12 teachers. Her research focuses on understanding teacher and student attitudes towards mathematics education and identifying effective practices for teaching mathematics to students with special needs. She is a regular speaker at conferences such as the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Meetings, the California Mathematics Annual Conference, and the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education, North American Chapter.
