Juha Seppala
Juha Seppala holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago, where his advisors, Thomas Sargent and Lars Peter Hansen, later won Nobel Prizes. After seventeen years as a Global Strategist at UBS, Morgan Stanley, and Barclays, he is a Portfolio Manager specialising in decision-making under uncertainty. His co-authored article in the Journal of Political Economy has been cited over 800 times, and he is quoted in the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Born at a missionary station in West Africa and raised in Finland, Seppala has spent most of his life in the US. Fluent in Finnish, he accessed original Finnish military archives, war diaries, and memoirs largely inaccessible to English-speaking historians. Defending Finland from Hitler and Stalin synthesises this primary research with a strategist’s analytical eye to present Mannerheim as a master of small-state strategy and asymmetric warfare. He lives in New York City.
