About The Author

Judith Conaway

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born on May 22, 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Upon returning from Jesuit prep. school in England, Doyle attended the University of Edinburgh Medical School where he met Dr. Joseph Bell, the man who inspired the character of Sherlock Holmes. In 1887 Doyle introduced the world to the inimitable Holmes with the publication of A Study in Scarlet. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle died on July 8, 1930.
