Joyce Fitzpartick
Joyce J. Fitzpatrick, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, is editor of Nursing Education Perspectives, the flagship journal for the National League for Nursing, and the Elizabeth Brooks Ford Professor of Nursing, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. She served as Dean at Case Western from 1982 through 1997. She has received numerous honors and awards including the American Journal of Nursing Book of the Year Award 18 times. Dr. Fitzpatrick is widely published in nursing and health care literature. She is a former senior editor for the Annual Review of Nursing Research and a well-published Springer author and editor. ||Cathleen M. Shultz, PhD, RN, FAAN, is current NLN President-Elect, and Dean and Professor Harding University College of Nursing, which college she helped to originate. In 1992, she became a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, has been active in Sigma Theta Tau International since 1976, and was elected its Secretary in 1995. Her involvement with the NLN began with the Committee on Accreditation, Board of Review, and later the Task Force on Assessment and Evaluation. She served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee from 2005-2007 and was elected as President-Elect in 2007. A prolific writer, Dr. Shultz’s vita lists over 100 presentations and publications including an article in a national nursing journal with a young Arkansas lawyer named Hilary Clinton. She has received two university-wide distinguished teacher awards and she is an NLN certified nurse educator. Recently she edited a book entitled ““Building a Science of Nursing Education: Foundation for Evidence-Based Teaching-Learning,”” soon to be released.
|Tonia Aiken, RN, JD, member, NLN Board of Trustees, has been a practicing nurse attorney in the fields of medical negligence and nursing disciplinary actions for several decades, and is co-author on the fo rthcoming Springer book legal Nurse Consulting:The Complete Guide. She is a past president of TAANA (1993) and TAANA Foundation (1994-1996). From 2006-2008 she served on the NLN Board of Directors and as President Louisiana State Nurses Association Relifef Fund (2005-2007). She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. She is the President and Co-Founder of ““Nurse Attorney Institute, LLC, providing educational/consultant services to healthcare providers on legal and ethical topics (including conflict management), and creates Legal Nurse Consulting programs, seminars, training and resource manuals. She received an AJN Book of the Year Award for her 2004, Legal, Ethical, and Political Issues in N ursing (F.A. Davis). In 2002 and 2003 she sat on the National Council for State Boards of Nursing as a Medical/Legal Content Expert for several Internet programs on disciplinary actions and medication errors.
