The unexpected death of a favorite cousin takes Iowa newspaper reporter Tony Harrington and his mother, Carlotta, to the Amalfi Coast of Italy for the funeral. While there, Tony learns beautiful young Noemi's fall from the seawall may not have been an accident. For days before her death, she had been stalked by a man believed to be connected to organized crime in Italy and America. Despite the warnings of everyone from his mother to the head of the local polizia, Tony is determined to identify, find, and bring to justice the man responsible for Noemi's fatal plunge.
His quest takes him from Italy to New York City, where he is joined by his best friend, Doug Tenney, and where he meets and falls hard for Erica, the daughter of a real estate tycoon. Tony's relentless pursuit of the man who stalked and killed Noemi puts him and his friends in serious peril, as they provoke the anger not only of the alleged killer, but of one of New York's most powerful and ruthless crime bosses.
Follow Tony on his journey through Italy and New York as he searches for the truth and risks everything to get the "The Third Side" of the story.
“U.S. REVIEW OF BOOKS ----Recommended "The sound was thunderous, amplified by the bare concrete surfaces. Tony screamed in horror and shock as he saw Angelica fall back, her torso spattered in blood." This is the third in a series of novels featuring Tony, a young reporter from a small town in Iowa, who seems destined to get himself and those around him in particularly dangerous scrapes of one sort or another. Between the pages of this potboiler, he manages to annoy a Mafia kingpin in Italy, tussle with a potential serial killer in New York, and learn perhaps more than he wanted to know about a beautiful but mysterious woman for whom he's fallen head-over-heels. It all begins on the Amalfi coast when Tony and his family learn that his young cousin has been killed. Initially thought to be an accidental death, Tony's investigations lead him to believe that she may have been murdered. Soon he's on the trail of a man who was spotted near the deceased just before her death. It turns out that the fellow he's tracking has Mafia connections in both Italy and The Big Apple. However, Tony won't be deterred from finding the truth. His continued pursuit of one exceptionally bad dude lands him and his best friend in the middle of mayhem and murder. Author Levalley has a firm grasp of his protagonist and supporting characters. He does a first-rate job of making them credible and memorable. His prose is tight, unpretentious, and easy to traverse. Levalley's dialogue reflects the way people actually talk and is used more for dramatic impact than plot exposition. It's easy to get caught up in Tony's plight, and one finds oneself turning the pages faster and faster to see what's coming next. Like the best of storytellers, the author has saved an intriguing surprise for the end. Chances are, it's one that readers won't see coming.." "Just like the first two Tony Harrington novels, I couldn't put this one down! It's a compelling page-turner with all of the classic elements of a murder-mystery, set in a place most of us only dream of visiting. I have no doubt we'll be seeing this character on the big screen eventually!" ERIN KIERNAN ----WHO-TV "More than just a murder mystery, this thriller is about taking risks, making choices that hold dangerous consequences, and moving beyond the role of being a small-time reporter for the Orney Town Crier. The story's fast pace and personal connections will keep readers involved to the end." MIDWEST BOOK REVIEWS "After three books, Tony Harrington has become family. His latest adventures in Italy and New York are page turners. Author Joseph LeValley has once again captured a character and story well worth following." DAVID C.
