Critics Review
I’ve spent decades exploring the idiosyncratic qualities of a multitude of fleeces, along with different tools and techniques. I know very well the joy of pulling a lock out of a newly-shorn fleece and gauging its length, crimp, color, and texture–wondering which adventure it will lead me on. Josefin’s contributions to our community encourage us to open our hearts and our hands to the incomparable pleasures offered by every woolly sheep, who annually shares its bounty with us and bounces back into the field, already growing the fleece that will carry subtle traces of the year to come into our future crafting quests.
I encourage you to open this book and your mind and let Josefin guide you on this incomparable voyage.
–Deborah Robson, co-author of The Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook “Foreword, Listen to the Wool”About The Author
Josefin Waltin
Josefin Waltin is a spinner, spinning teacher, writer, and course creator. She has written several articles for magazines like Spin-Off and PLY and is the co-author of Sara J Wolf’s book Knit (Spin) Sweden! Her knowledge of wool comes straight from the source–from the raw fleece itself. With her hands in the wool and by writing about spinning, she understands the process and deepens her connection to the wool. She has taught over 300 hours in face-to-face courses and over 2,000 students online. As a spinning teacher and course creator, she has collected a bank of experiences and common challenges for spinners and brought it back into teaching and writing. Her main focus is spindle spinning and the process from raw fleece to a finished yarn or textile. Josefin lives in Stockholm, Sweden with her family. She gardens, is a trained gym instructor, and enjoys daily baths all year round in her nearby lake.
