About The Author

John Ota

John Ota

John Ota has been involved with architecture and design since 1978. He holds degrees from Columbia University, the University of Toronto, and the University of British Columbia.

His bestselling book, The Kitchen, was a finalist for the 2021 Taste Canada Awards and the 2021 Paris Gourmand Cookbook Awards in the book design category.

After a career in architecture in Toronto, New York, and Vancouver, and leading multiple Ontario Ministry of Culture projects, John now dedicates his time to traveling the world. He enjoys visiting historic houses, cooking regional food, and connecting with people from diverse backgrounds.
