About the Author

John KixMiller writes about the coming of age with themes that involve environmental justice, humankind & nature, love, strength, the power of being part of a community.Abby & Wendy is the 4th book of six in the Protectors of the Wood Book series. This eco-fiction, magical realism, adventure series, started in 1988, when John and his daughter invented an imaginary town, with characters, and a forest called Hidden Valley.In 2006, John began to publish these stories and wrote Phoebe Comes Home, Phoebe Breaks Through, and The Ghost Girl. In 2019, Phoebe Comes Home, book #1, was listed as #1 on Goodreads best Eco fiction Listopia.In 2014, KixMIller created The Protectors of the Wood band. The psychedelic folk band recently release a 23-song album called "Nature Lives Here." The Protectors of the Wood band has won awards such as" Best Music Award, Award Winner, and Best Music Video."In 2019, The Protectors of the Wood Adventure Series became a podcast and in November 2020, it became a web series on YouTube. Some episodes have reached over 5 million people around the world.In April 2020, "Phoebe Comes Home," the first Protectors of the Wood film premiered. It has won several awards that include best web series and best animation.John lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife Jenny and his dog Sunny. He volunteers at a community garden on a regular basis and helps with collecting compost in his neighborhood. Joseph Vitaliano Jr.A native New Yorker and CUNY graduate, Joseph Vitaliano Jr. is an actor / voice actor who has always loved playing characters, doing voices and accents. His interest in voice-over began as a kid watching cartoons, TV shows and movies; then later theater, documentaries, radio broadcasts, lectures, speeches, commercials and audiobooks! In the mid-2000s, Joe began working on audiobook productions with other voice actors. This eventually led him to join the Protectors of the Wood Adventure Series podcast, where Joe has played over 40+ characters for the award-winning eco-fantasy. Originally, it began as a series of books by author / narrator John KixMiller; later it became a "radio play-style" podcast; then an ongoing web series and even an independent, animated feature. When Joe's not mouthing off in front of a mic, he works as a freelance graphic designer (after having worked 20 years in advertising), further contributing to Protectors of the Wood via coloring illustrations on computer, creating visuals, maps and scenes necessary for the books and podcast series.
