Summary
Fishy Business: A History of Sydney’s Iconic Fish Market
For millennia, the Aboriginal people of coastal Sydney lived in harmony with the natural environment, relying on fishing and shell fishing as a way of life. This balance shifted dramatically with the arrival of the First Fleet. Fishing quickly became vital to the European colonists, and the location where their catch was sold became equally important, marked by color and controversy from the start.
