About the Author

Lana Salfinger is currently a Science teacher, at Presbyterian Ladies’ College (PLC), an independent girls’ school in Western Australia. She is known in education as a co-author of numerous Science texts including the Science Aspects series, Science Ways workbooks 1 and 2 and the new series, Science and Inquiry books 1 and 2. She has presented at schools and conferences locally, nationally and internationally for the past nine years on a wide variety of topics in addition to regularly supporting visiting Science staff from other schools in her classes. Originally a Biology and general science teacher, Lana's passion now lies in engaging students during the transitional years of Middle School, with the aim of developing scientifically informed, caring and responsible individuals who think critically, and make informed choices for themselves, the environment and society.

Joanne Hine is a teacher and deputy principal who lives in the southwest of Western Australia with her husband and children. She is passionate about teaching and loves nothing better than watching kids discover something new or different about their world.
