About the Author

Jesus Barrena-Martinez , PhD, is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Cadiz. He is Head of Business Management Department. His PhD dissertation received a special mention from the Santander Chair of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for the best PhD in CSR in Spain in 2014. His teaching and research interests include Human Resource Management, Corporate Social Responsibility and Intellectual Capital. He is member of the European Institute of Sustainability in Management (IESG). María-José Foncubierta-Rodríguez is an Associate Professor. Department of Management, University of Cádiz. She has been developing research, teaching and management functions since its incorporation to the university. Regarding research activity, she has published articles in specialized journals in her area of knowledge, all of them integrated into the main databases (WoS, SCOPUS, Latindex, Scielo). She works on a generic line of research: professional competencies for work and, in particular, for leadership. She has specialized in two innovative sublines: the competencies of the PI as a leader of research groups, and the competencies of leaders to manage employee happiness and well-being, and achieve them through healthy leadership, in healthy companies (SDG-3 and SDG-8). She disseminates these findings through articles, conferences, research meetings, and media (e.g. Cadena SER, Sabemos magazine). She is co-author of the Intellectual Property “La Ruta de la Tapa Feliz”. Other acts of transfer to the environment are: collaboration with the City Council of Algeciras (projects “Algeciras Digital Challenge”, of the European Union, and “Agenda 2020”), or being an evaluator in R+D+i Awards of the Technological Campus Foundation of Algeciras. She has contributed to the training of young researchers, being co-director of four doctoral dissertations, two of them in process. As for teaching, she is a full-time professor at the University of Cadiz. She has twice obtained the mention of Excellence in the DOCENTIA program of the UCA. She also teaches in several official Masters of the University of Cadiz. She has directed advanced works in these Masters. From the 1996 to 2020 she has held positions of responsibility at the University of Cádiz such as Sub-coordinator of Studies at the attached center (EUEJE), Coordinator of the Business Economics Area at the same center until 2010. She has held the position of Director of the Headquarters of the Faculty of Economic and Business Administration Sciences at the Bahía de Algeciras University Campus since April 2012 to December 2020. Her integration and contribution to the territory of Campo de Gibraltar have led her to be PI of the Research Group: SEJ-058 “Cátedra de Estudios Jurídicos y Económicos del Campo de Gibraltar “Francisco Tomás y Valiente”, group of PAIDI (Andalusian Research+Development+innovation Plan, Junta de Andalucía). José Aurelio Medina-Garrido is a member of the Department of Business Organization of the University of Cadiz and INDESS (University Institute for Sustainable Social Development of the University of Cadiz). He is Director of the Departmental Section, and he has been Department Secretary. He has research and teaching experience in entrepreneurship and information systems management. He was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Warwick. He has published in the International Small Business Journal, International Entrepreneurship and Management Journal, International Journal of Hospitality Management, and International Journal of Human Resource Management, among other journals. He has published many books and book chapters, including four books on management of organisations and information systems and almost 20 annual editions of the GEM Andalusia Report. He has participated in the Organising and Scientific Committee of various national and international conferences. He has been a senior member of the GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) team in Andalusia since the beginning of the international project in Spain in 2003. He was a member of the GEM Spain network (with more than 140 researchers) and the GEM Consortium, with more than 80 participating countries. The researcher has been a member of the Andalusian Research Plan Group “Strategic Management and Business Creation” (Ref. SEJ-360) and is currently leading the Group “New Challenges for Business Management: Information Systems, Sustainability and Entrepreneurship (NewReD)” (Ref. SEJ-639). He has participated in Research Projects obtained in public and competitive calls financed by national and European programmes: the National R&D Plan “Dynamic Capacities and Strategic Change” during 1999-2001 and the Plan for the Creation of Cultural Enterprises, during the period 2004-2007. He was the main researcher responsible for the UCA Project “Determinants and socio-economic impact of high potential entrepreneurship” during 2017- 2018. He was the principal researcher of the UCA 2020-2021 Bridge Project “Success factors for high growth start-ups” Ref. PR2020-011. He has participated in 32 Research Results Transfer Contracts, carrying out studies on entrepreneurship and advising on management and information systems for companies. He has coordinated various modules in Official Masters of the University of Cadiz, among which the Official Masters in Business Creation, New Businesses and Innovative Project stands out. Zbysław Dobrowolski , PhD is a professor at the University of Zielona Góra and Jagiellonian University (October 2012 - November 2024). He is a habilitated doctor in management and a doctor of economics in the field of economics and organisation of enterprises. He specialises in management control, performance auditing, praxeological determinants of the functioning of public organisations, corporate governance, risk management, and sustainable development. He reviews hundreds of studies, including numerous scientific articles indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus database. He cooperates with the scientific community from many countries. He served as editor-in-chief of the International Journal on Governmental Financial Management (USA). He is a member of the scientific council of many scientific journals. He participates in the work of international and national scientific associations, including the Academy of Management (USA) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (USA). He is a co-author of audit standards and guidelines applicable worldwide. The United Nations has published his scientific work. He was an expert in numerous INTOSAI, OECD and UE programs and the Advisory Scientific Committee at the Financial Ombudsman in Warsaw. He led expert teams preparing research reports for the Polish Parliament, the President of the Republic of Poland and the Prime Minister. He was an expert in international programs involving representatives of public organisations from over 60 countries. He is currently involved in the supervisory activities of entities of crucial importance for the functioning of the State. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Advisory Team for the "Pearls of Science" program at the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education. His scientific achievements include 18 scientific monographs, co-authored studies, over a hundred scientific articles, academic textbooks, and other studies in the field of management. He received outstanding assessment for his research, organisational and teaching activities at the Jagiellonian University in 2016-2020. He received numerous Awards from the Rector of the Jagiellonian University for his scientific achievements and the distinctions of the President of Poland. He is engaged in oversight in a business company.
