About The Author

Jenny Aland

Dr Jenny Aland PSM is an Adelaide-based visual arts educator, historical researcher and writer. With a background of more than forty years in secondary and tertiary visual arts education, Jenny has authored, co-authored (Heinemann: Australian Artlook, Art Connections 1 and 2) and edited numerous publications that focus on teaching visual arts in artistic, social and cultural contexts.

Jenny Aland has a PhD from the University of South Australia, and a Masters in Education from the University of Canberra. She has Bachelor degrees in Education and Fine Arts (Painting), the latter gained from the South Australian School of Art in 1974 when the school was located at its Stanley Street, North Adelaide, campus. In 2003, she was awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding services to arts education curriculum. Dr Aland is now an Adjunct Research Fellow at UniSA, where she worked closely with the Friends of the South Australian School of Art Inc. on the development of this publication.
