Critics Review
“Jennifer Bain is one of the best food writers in North America. She has a global palate, a penchant for assertive flavours and a reporter’s instincts. With this book has sourced Ontario’s most intriguing eats, from Sudbury’s famous porketta to Korean kimchi and Asian pear salad, spicy Ethiopian fava beans, and Mexican pozole. She also has the knack for writing easy recipes, so the next time you crave your favourite food, you can easily rustle it up at home.” –Monda Rosenberg, Food Writer, Consultant and Cookbook Author“What better way to bring diverse communities together than over a bubbling pot on the stove or around the kitchen table? Jennifer captures the rich heritage of global culinary stories right here at home. The Toronto Star Cookbook is a living history told through delicious recipes, mouth-watering photos and incredible stories.” –Alison Fryer, General Manager, the Cookbook Store, Toronto“Huge kudos to Jennifer Bain for capturing the very essence of the new cuisine of Canada: multicultural, overflowing with personal stories and absolutely delicious.” –Anita Stewart, Author, Member of the Order of Canada and Founder of Food Day“Trust Jennifer Bain to put out a fantastic cookbook. I always enjoy her weekly column, and now there’s an entire cookbook to drool over. Emphasizing healthy eating and centered around the Toronto restaurant scene and the tasty ethnic food to be found there, it’s a great cookbook and I can’t to try the recipes!” –Sandy Prowse, Avid Toronto Star Reader
About The Author
Jennifer Bain
JENNIFER BAIN runs Canada’s only newsroom-based test kitchen. She is an award-winning journalist and working mom (with a vegetarian teen, picky pre-schooler and bison rancher husband) who buys her work groceries, handles cleanup and strives to cook like a citizen and not a chef. But she loves to eat out, collect chef recipes and wrestle them into submission.
