Description

Meet Jetty. She is just starting fourth grade. Jetty likes: karate, cartwheels, reading, and cookie dough ice cream. Jetty dislikes: girlie girls, anything pink, and writing in complete sentences!

Jetty writes about these things as well as her recent ADHD diagnosis in her diary. Although starting fourth grade with ADHD is tough — with new rules, more schoolwork, and new classmates — Jetty is able to see the bright side as she works with her parents, teacher, and doctor to find a happy medium where she can feel like herself!

Critic Reviews

Winner, 2014 Teacher's Choice Awards

"Written in diary form, this is a realistic portrayal of ADHD and how it affects children...the narrative is informative and entertaining, and the protagonist is believable and likable. The layout and colorful, fun illustrations do a great job of drawing in readers. Youngsters who like realistic fiction and are interested in learning about ADHD will appreciate this book."--School Library Journal

"Get Ready for Jetty is also an excellent book to read in class to raise awareness of different types of learners and make other children aware of the various challenges that other students may have. Understanding and relating to Jetty's perspective can make our children more empathetic and open minded. As parents and educators, I think we can raise more open minded and accepting children by being non-judgmental and educating them about all different learning differences."--Gravity Bread
