About The Author
Jean-Claude Hocquet
Jean-Claude Hocquet (1936) is a professor at the Universities of Venice and Lille, director of research at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, and a lecturer at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. He has been president of the International Committee of Historical Metrology and of the French Committee. He has been invited to deliver and publish lectures on the history of weights and measures in many countries. He has co-edited the Cahiers de Métrologie and is a member of the scientific board of Histoire et Mesure.
