Jane Samson
Alan Frost was Professor of History at La Trobe University. He is the author of Convicts and Empire (1980); Arthur Phillip, 1738-1814- His Voyaging (1987); Botany Bay Mirages (1994); The Precarious Life of James Mario Matr a (1995); and The Voyage of the Endeavour (1998). Jane Samson was Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta. She has been a Killam Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia, Caird Junior Research Fellow at the National Maritime Museum, and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, London. She is the author of I mperial Benevolence- Making British Authority on the Pacific Islands (1998).
