About The Author
James Knight
James Knight’s passion for distance running began at the age of nine when he competed in his first fun-run, the Gunnedah Gallop, in country New South Wales. This early experience sparked a lifelong love for running, nurtured by countless hours spent training on his family’s property.
He completed his first marathon in 2000 at the Sydney Olympic Test Event. The following year, he participated in the New York Marathon, a significant event held shortly after the 9-11 attacks. To date, James has run fourteen marathons, including events in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and the Gold Coast. He also conquered the challenging 2010 North Face 100 (now Ultra Trail-Australia) in the Blue Mountains.
James draws a parallel between the dedication required for marathon running and writing, describing both as “long and slow” endeavors. He has authored thirteen non-fiction adult books and three children’s books, one of which is fiction. A former sports journalist across television, radio, newspapers, and online platforms, James has also served as a TV commentator for the Melbourne and Gold Coast marathons. He currently resides in Canberra with his wife, Clare, son Iggy, and their dog, Roger.
