Critics Review

“The 1,088-page publication, with more than 3,800 colour images and over 150 ultrasound videos, offers a detailed and practical reference manual for the best learning and the optimal support for daily clinical use both to practitioners and students interested in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK-US)…. In conclusion, this volume synthesizes detailed anatomical knowledge, practical scanning techniques, which represent its greatest and invaluable value, and diagnostic strategies in one accessible volume. For radiologists, physiatrists, orthopedic specialists, and sonographers seeking a comprehensive, clinically focused, and visually superb guide to musculoskeletal ultrasound, this book is not only indispensable, but represents a definitive and world-class magnum opus in the practice-oriented musculoskeletal ultrasound literature. Therefore, this text has to find a place both in every scientific and academic library and on the desk of practitioners and beginners, either to learn at best the discipline, and to address their doubts and quickly identify the best techniques, when practicing daily MSK ultrasound.” Review by Vincenzo Parlato and Luigi Mansi, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, May 2025”…this detailed, comprehensive textbook is divided into five parts, namely anatomy, ultrasound in practice, diagnoses (tendon disorders, soft tissue, bone and joint injury, arthropathies, neurovascular abnormalities, infection, articular and para-articular masses, soft tissue and bone tumours, hernia), differential diagnoses (general lumps and bumps, tendon abnormalities, nerve, fascia and bone, joint abnormalities, chest and abdominal wall) and intervention (biopsy and joint procedures)…. The colourful and beautiful ultrasound textbook contains 1,207 pages with nearly 3,900 images, including new full colour graphic illustrations. Images and illustrations include surface-rendered 3D anatomy with corresponding ultrasound representation, cartoon-representative diagrams, selected surface anatomy and photographs of practical procedures (which includes how to position the probe and needle for interventions)…. This textbook is suitable for radiologists, sonographers, rheumatologists, sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapists. In summary, this textbook is a highly recommended reference point for the practising imager based on its comprehensiveness and meticulous details.” Review by Dr Ne-Siang Chew, Consultant Radiologist, Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, RAD Magazine, October 2025”The excellence of the book lies at first in its systematic approach to normal and pathological anatomy. Each chapter methodically addresses a specific joint or anatomical region,… [and] the text is presented with the highest possible level of visual documentation. The integration of high-resolution ultrasound images with anatomical diagrams, rich in explanatory details of the evaluated anatomical district, greatly facilitates the reader’s understanding of the findings, both normal and pathological. A particularly notable feature of this publication is the inclusion of step-by-step photographic sequences illustrating transducer positioning and movement…. this volume synthesizes detailed anatomical knowledge, practical scanning techniques, which represent its greatest and invaluable value, and diagnostic strategies in one accessible volume. For radiologists, physiatrists, orthopedic specialists, and sonographers seeking a comprehensive, clinically focused, and visually superb guide to musculoskeletal ultrasound, this book is not only indispensable, but represents a definitive and world-class magnum opus in the practice-oriented musculoskeletal ultrasound literature.” - Vincenzo Parlato and Luigi Mansi, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, May 2025
