Iris Murdoch (1919-1999)

Iris Murdoch was born in Dublin and raised in London. She pursued her studies in philosophy at Cambridge and subsequently served as a philosophy fellow at St. Anne’s College for two decades. Her literary career began with the publication of her first novel in 1954, an event that immediately established her as a significant literary voice. Throughout her life, Murdoch produced a prolific body of work, including over 26 novels, philosophical writings, plays, and poetry.
