Ira Breskin is a writer, editor, and teacher from New York state. He was a business journalist for 25 years before joining the faculty of State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler, Bronx, New York, in 2003.

A senior lecturer, Breskin teaches maritime policy and regulation, American commercial maritime history, intermodal transportation, and expository writing. He is a board member of the Friends of the American Merchant Museum at USMMA and holds an Ordinary Seaman rating, STCW.
