Description

Sukumar Roy was the greatest exponent of nonsense literature in Bangla. The author was introduced to his poems at a very early age and was fascinated by the absurdities contained therein. The surreal characters and places became a reality to the author. They followed him when he moved to Texas more than thirty years back. In order to make his virtual "friends" adapt to the new setting, he began to translate the poems keeping the essence with subtle changes in ambience. Thus, the characters speed along a highway rather than walking fast along a narrow lane, spend in dollars instead of taka, and eat donuts instead of deep-fried luchis.
The author has made an effort to keep the original spirit of the work as much as possible. He wants to make it available to those who love Sukumar Roy. This is his homage to one of the greatest masters of nonsense literature.
