Critics Review

In the face of environmental crises, wars and the rise of the far right, rethinking agrarian reform in the 21st century is an absolute necessity: this book does so brilliantly. * Morgan Ody, General Coordinator, La Via Campesina *
A timely intervention that places the historical question of land redistribution firmly back on the political agenda, with rural working people, indigenous peoples and peasants as central subjects of this transformation. An essential reading. * Lyn Ossome, Makerere University, USA *
This book clearly presents the need to tackle land concentration in order to close exclusion gaps, fight poverty and hunger and address climate change, soil degradation and biodiversity loss. * Martha Carvajalino, Former Minister of Agriculture and Conference President of ICARRD+20 in Cartagena, Colombia *
The revival of redistributive land reform in the twenty-first century is of critical importance, as this brilliant book convincingly demonstrates. * Jingzhong Ye, Professor at College of Humanities and Development Studies (COHD), China Agricultural University, Beijing *
With land inequalities and food insecurity on the rise, this book is the most important collection of analyses of land reforms published in the last 20 years. * Francesco Pierri, Global Land Observatory, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Rome *
In this much needed book, leading intellectuals show the way forward to rethink land reform for a more just and democratic future. * Annie Shattuck, Indiana University, USA *
This magnificent collection by a team of world-class scholar-activists provides cutting edge international case studies and compelling arguments in favour of radical redistributive agrarian reform. * Marc Edelman, Hunter College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York *
