About The Author
Ian Hugh Smith
Ian Hugh Smith has spent over forty years in wooden boatbuilding and boatbuilding education, building upwards of eighty boats and teaching hundreds of people the skills to build their own. Now retired from commercial work, Ian is concentrating on documenting his experience but still builds a 24’ Ranger class gaffer and races his Historical 18-footer replica Britannia on Sydney Harbour.
Tricia Smith edited and designed the layout for this book, utilizing her computer skills which her author husband knows little about.
