Howard Mackie

Howard Mackie began his career at Marvel in the late 1980s, first as an editor and then as a writer. He was the full-time writer for the popular Ghost Rider series starting in 1990, introducing the alter ego Danny Ketch. Mackie also contributed extensively to Marvel’s Spider-Man and X-Men titles throughout the 1990s.

Todd McFarlane

Todd McFarlane’s career took off with his work on Amazing Spider-Man, where he and writer David Michelinie introduced the character Venom. Known for his innovative style, featuring unconventional panel layouts and extreme close-ups, McFarlane became both writer and artist for the Spider-Man series. He was a co-founder of Image Comics and created the immensely popular character Spawn, whose debut issue achieved record-breaking sales for an independent comic. McFarlane’s other credits include DC’s Infinity Inc. and “Batman: Year Two.” He has received numerous awards, including the Inkpot Award and the National Cartoonists Society’s Award for Best Comic Book. Beyond comics, he heads Todd McFarlane Productions, McFarlane Toys, and Todd McFarlane Entertainment, and has produced a Spawn film and an animated series.

Roy Thomas

Roy Thomas joined Marvel as a writer and editor under Stan Lee, contributing to major titles like Amazing Spider-Man, Avengers, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Sub-Mariner, Thor, and X-Men. He wrote for the Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan titles for a decade and launched series such as Defenders, Iron Fist, Invaders, and Warlock. At DC, Thomas developed All-Star Squadron, Infinity Inc., and played a key role in reviving the Golden Age Justice Society of America. He later edited Alter Ego magazine and co-scripted the films Fire and Ice and Conan the Destroyer.

Javier Saltares

Javier Saltares established himself as both an inker and pencil artist. His early work included Marvel’s New Universe titles like Psi-Force, Justice, and D.P. 7. In 1990, alongside penciler Mark Texeira, Saltares contributed to the distinctive visual style that made Ghost Rider a major success. More recently, after drawing G.I. Joe for Devil’s Due, Saltares returned to Marvel, reuniting with Texeira on Wolverine and a Ghost Rider revival by writer Daniel Way.

Mark Texeira

Mark Texeira’s early work included Marvel’s New Universe titles such as Psi-Force and Kickers, Inc.. His reputation soared in the early 1990s with his contribution to the revitalized Ghost Rider, which returned the character to popularity. Texeira also introduced Black Panther to Marvel Knights in an acclaimed run and has frequently provided art for Marvel, often on gritty characters like Wolverine, Moon Knight, the Punisher, and a return to Ghost Rider.

Larry Stroman

Larry Stroman penciled X-Factor in the early 1990s before creating his own title, Tribe. His notable work on established characters includes Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men, Black Panther, and the Heroes Reborn version of Iron Man, as well as DC’s Darkstars and Wildstorm’s WildC.A.T.s. Stroman recently returned to X-Factor, collaborating again with writer Peter David on a well-received story arc.
