Description

"An epic love story." Chris Florio, Director, Passion Records

"Will make you laugh and cry." Sharon Singer, writer, poet, librettist

"Poignant and real." Debby Dodds, author of Amish Guys Don't Call

In 1985, they met by chance.

As a young guitarist and violinist, Jake and Cait created something transcendent each time they locked eyes and finished each other's musical phrases.... until the music stopped.

Forty years later, the song that started it all brings them back together. But time changes everything.

Faith will test them. Regret will haunt them. But the music... might just save them.

Sometimes, the only way forward... is to play the song from the start.

Perfect for fans of Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and Tom Lake by Ann Patchett, Found and Lost: The Jake and Cait Story strikes all the right chords for anyone who's ever wondered if it's possible to reclaim their dreams-and the people-they left behind.

Critic Reviews

"Takes us on a journey through decades of music from the 1980s into the future, with humor, sensuousness, and wonder... Opens a window on the inner life of musicians and music's spiritual, universal connection and otherworldly force. A delightful tender read that will make you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time." Sharon Singer, writer, poet, librettist

"Joins the ranks of beloved fictional rock and roll stories like Daisy Jones and the Six, Mary Jane, and Songs in Ursa Major... a great new rock couple with a story that starts in the awesome 1980s... From Yo-Yo Ma's appearance on the Tonight Show to Suzanne Vega hanging out in Washington Square Park in the Village to our protagonists getting bullied for not being cool enough at CBGB's, the novel recreates the era wonderfully... A story so poignant and real it seems as if it were true." Debby Dodds, author of Amish Guys Don't Call

"Surprised me in wonderful ways... I was completely engaged. Howard Lovy successfully choreographs a story that spans decades... an epic love story." Chris Florio, Director, Passion Records

"In Found and Lost Howard Lovy captures the magic of two teenage singer-songwriters who gained a cult following in the '80s, but mysteriously broke up and disappeared before fame could find them... a beautiful tale of love lost, and music found, and will appeal to anyone who has ever looked back at their life with yearning and imagined what could have been." Leah Eichler, publisher of Esoterica Magazine

"Found and Lost is as much about us as it is about Jake and Cait. Like life itself, it is filled with promise and unanswered questions, some mystery and intrigue, and the always lingering hope that it all just might work out... a journey into your own heart." Andrew Pessin, author of Nevergreen

"An intense love story about an unlikely couple bound, and forever tied together by the strings of their musical instruments. Lovy beautifully illustrates the powerful bond for which only music can create." Thomas Palance, Assistant Professor, Retired, Berklee College of Music

"Howard Lovy has seamlessly captured the magic of the mid-'80s, a time full of hope and promise... Jake and Cait have their summer of love, yes, but they also prove that it's never too late to follow your heart." Susan Blumberg-Kason, author of Bernardine's Shanghai Salon

"As a Jewish woman, married to an Episcopal priest for almost fifty years, I have seen so much writing that stereotypes or even demeans the beliefs of 'the other.' Because the love in this novel involves faith, the creation of the music is mystical... a rich read." Kresha Richman Warnock, author and essayist

"A delightful debut... Written with heart and deep knowledge of the world of music, you'll eagerly turn the pages." Judy Gruen, author of Bylines and Blessings

"You're never too old to reignite your passions or repair relationships, and Lovy shows us how." Jonathan Harounoff, author of Unveiled: Inside Iran's #WomanLifeFreedom Revolt

"I was taken back to the magical power of music that has held me for so many years. I was struck by visions of love and the innocence of youth with no boundaries to confine dreams." Peter Bissonnette, former president of Shaw Communications

"A beautifully written, poignant love letter to music, life, and second chances that seamlessly blends youth's raw, impulsive dreams with the bittersweet wisdom of middle age." Rachel Thompson, Award-Winning author of Broken Pieces

"A treasure about the enduring power of love... Whether you've found your bashert or are still looking, Found and Lost: The Jake and Cait Story is a satisfying read from start to finish!" T/R Ellison, author of The Chladni Progression: The Power to Heal and Strange Fire
