About the Author

George Bridgman (1864-1943) was an artist and art teacher who dedicated his life to art education. A Canadian native, Bridgman taught at the Art Students League of New York for over four decades, and published Bridgman's Life Drawing in 1924. Harold Speed (1872-1957) was an oil and watercolor painter dedicated to depicting the human form. Born in England, he wrote his original drawing manual, The Practice and Science of Drawing, in 1913.
