The topics in this book emerged as a result of brainstorming with fellow academics in the summer of 2013. We have discussed ways to address the needs of people, especially youth, who face daily doubts thrown in their faces in modern society. Issues such as the existence of God, the reality of resurrection and the need for worship as well as common social behavioural problems such as greed, backbiting and racism are explained from the perspective of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi. The aim of this book is to present a carefully chosen, digestible selection from Nursi's fourteen volume, 6000-page the Risale-i Nur Collection to beginners. The publisher hopes that this book is going to be the very first step into the fascinating writings of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi for many first-time readers.
Hakan Gok is currently undertaking PhD research at Durham University. His PhD thesis is on 'Philosophy of Religion: Atheism and Theism, Said Nursi's philosophy and Risale-i Nur'. He taught science at high school level in various countries including the UK. He completed his Masters Degree in Leadership and Management in Education in the UK in 2005. His interest in Said Nursi's writings led him to studying PhD in Philosophy at Durham University. Hakan is currently living in the UK and working on his book on 'The Arguments for the Existence of God'.
