About The Author
George W. Bullard, Jr
George Bullard is a recognized speaker, teacher, consultant, and mentor to Protestant leaders. He is a futurist, a strategic thinking expert, an authority in conflict mediation, and a writer. His vision is to use his spiritual giftedness to empower Christian leaders, congregations, and denominations toward effective Kingdom ministry. He has expressed this through congregational and denominational service in his Baptist tradition and five decades of consulting, coaching, and mentoring.
Academically, George holds a bachelor’s degree in history and sociology, two master’s degrees (divinity and theology), and a Doctor of Ministry degree. He has served as an adjunct or visiting professor in seven seminaries or divinity schools. Within his Baptist denomination, he has held staff roles at local, regional, and national levels. He also led the North American Baptist denominational groups connected with the Baptist World Alliance for seven years.
George has worked with over 1,000 congregations and local, regional, and national/international denominational organizations among Protestant groups, engaging with 50 denominational families throughout North America. These include Anglican, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Brethren, Christian (Disciples of Christ), Christian and Missionary Alliance, Christian Reformed, Church of God, Episcopal, Evangelical Covenant, Evangelical Free, Grace Brethren, Lutheran, Mennonite Brethren, Methodist, Pentecostal Holiness, Presbyterian, Reformed Church in America, United Church of Christ, Wesleyan, and others.
These extensive interactions have provided George with a deep understanding of congregations of all types. In his book, he categorizes congregations into five types based on the clarity and alignment of their mission and vision to reach their full Kingdom potential: Soaring, Strong, Stumbling, Struggling, and Spiritless.
