About The Author
Gavin McCormack
Dr. Mark A. Williams is an internationally recognized professor of cognitive neuroscience with over 25 years of experience in behavioral and brain imaging research focused on social skills. He has taught neuroscience fundamentals to undergraduate and postgraduate students and published more than 70 scientific articles. Dr. Williams has received numerous high-profile fellowships and grants and has worked at MIT in the USA and universities in Australia. He is an international expert on the neuroscience of screen time, with his research influencing school policies and prompting global discussions about banning digital devices in classrooms.
Gavin McCormack is the co-founder of Upschool.co, a platform dedicated to inspiring children to develop real-world skills and create genuine impact. With over 25 years in education, including a decade as a trained Montessori teacher, Gavin has taught globally and advocated for innovative, purposeful learning. He is the Montessori Australia Ambassador, a TEDx speaker, and the author of numerous children’s books, including a biography of Sir Kenny Dalglish. Gavin has established schools, libraries, and teacher training centers in Nepal and was recognized with the 2024 Outstanding Global Contribution to Education Award at the GESS Awards in Dubai. For the past five consecutive years, he has been named one of Australia’s Most Influential Educators by The Educator magazine.
