About The Author

Gabiann Marin

Gabiann Marin is an academic and award-winning writer in broadcast, publication, and multimedia. Gabiann has written for TV and published over 12 fiction and nonfiction books, and she has won or been shortlisted for several Australian and international writing prizes, including winning the international White Raven Award for Writing of Importance 2005 and the ATOM Best Interactive Narrative Award 2017 for Kids Together Now.

In 2025, her first novel, The Medusa Situation, published by Clan Destine Press, was shortlisted for the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards and the Ditmar Award for best fantasy novel.

Gabiann teaches literature and mythology and is completing a PhD in the role of the Mother Nature Character in Contemporary Climate Change fiction. When not developing or writing projects, she edits fiction and non-fiction, conducts highly reviewed online and in-situ writing and creativity workshops, and lectures in writing, literature, narrative, film, and television at Macquarie University, the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, and JMC Academy.

Mira Nurdianti was born in Indonesia and raised in the rich traditions of Javanese culture. Surrounded by family who taught her the philosophies, rituals, and symbolism of Javanese life—including the sacred slametan feasts that mark life’s milestones—Mira developed a deep connection to spiritual and cultural storytelling.

Now based in Sydney, Australia, she brings that heritage to life through her intricate fine liner illustrations, which she describes as a visual diary of reflection and inner strength. Mira also runs Melancholy Memento, an online gallery and shop showcasing artwork inspired by femininity, folklore, witchcraft, and a gentle sense of melancholia. Through her creations, she hopes to connect with others and help them discover their own quiet resilience—like a talisman carried in ink.
