Friedrich Hölderlin

Friedrich Holderlin (1770-1843) was a German poet, known for his poems on classical themes and his novel HYPERION.

Michael Hamburger was born in Berlin in 1924 and emigrated to England with his family in 1933. His poetry collections include FLOWERING CACTUS, WEATHER AND SEASON, and OWNERLESS EARTH- NEW AND SELECTED POEMS. He was also a translator of Hofmannsthal, Grass, and Holderlin’s POEMS AND FRAGMENTS.
